I can't be sure anyone noticed, but... I "quit" Substack. I don’t know what happened in the 6 months since my last post, but I'm somehow gaining more subscribers now than when I was active. I'm probably screwing that up by posting again, but let’s just see how it goes.
For most of 2023 I tried to post regularly, but, to be honest, I wasn't sure if anyone even saw what I was posting. So, I don't think I'm going back to any kind of schedule unless I figure out a format that's actually fun to put together regardless of whether I'm getting feedback on it or not.
So, yeah… I guess I’m “back” for now — though, probably posting even more... infrequently (but probably more frequently than once every six months). Sorry, new subs! I do have some stuff I’ve been meaning to post, but I don’t really feel any compulsion to make sure I get something out at least once a month anymore… that could change, but for now that’s kinda how it is.
Anyway, here are 20 songs I've been listening to lately. I've been working on expanding my pre-80s decade playlists and, to be honest, this entire list could have been from the 50s or 60s or 70s — so, it does lean a bit to the older side this time. With so much to choose from, it was difficult to pick which songs to include, but a few songs from 2024 did manage to sneak in. That said, not sure how I'm gonna do a "Best of 2024". I haven't been listening to much of anything from this year and it's almost September. Oh well!
Seeing as this playlist is kind of all over the place time-wise, I made the graph below showing chronological order to help get a better understanding of each song’s context.
While I haven't been posting anything for a while now, I have been quietly adding songs to the master INFREQUENCY-FM playlist. If you haven't already, check out the IFRQ-FM tab at the top of the page (or click embed below) for a playlist of all songs featured here — which is now over 1,000 songs and covering over 100 years of music — plus decade playlists from the 1920s through the 2020s.
There is also now a collaborative IFRQ-FM playlist for songs you’d like to suggest or just share. I can’t guarantee submissions will be included, but I will definitely listen to them.
