Around ten years ago (spring 2012) I started a subreddit & Youtube channel called KillrMusic after participating in r/music for a few years and getting tired of how predictable the submissions and upvoted tracks became.
I made KillrMusic with the idea that it would be curated by myself at first and eventually by other users, but comment engagement was non-existent even though there was obvious voting, watching, and subbing activity. This made it difficult to pick other people to curate, so I continued to post new playlists myself but with increasing infrequency. I eventually lost access to my account and one day noticed the sub had been set to "private"... and that was that.
But after about 8 years of inactivity I still get occasional notifications from the Youtube account associated with it, so I guess there's still some interest.
Incidentally, about 2 years ago r/music made rules banning tracks I had banned in my sub in 2012. I guess they finally realized it wasn’t going to sort itself out organically.
Anyway… I guess this is just going to be an extension of all that, but in more of a “blog” format, which is technically going back to its roots as r/killrmusic was actually the spiritual successor to my short-lived MOG that was active for about 2 years back around 2005-07. Whatever… let’s see how this goes.
